What to Expect

After a request is received, the leader will be contacted to confirm program details. A Field Study Packet can be downloaded that includes a checklist, additional program details and a Release of Liability form to be completed and returned for every student, chaperone and teacher prior to scheduled program. Class rolls must be submitted prior to arrival as program preparations will be based upon this roll. The group will be invoiced and full payment is expected by program date.

Camp Discovery staff works closely with all individuals to insure a shared and successful program. Our programs are a collaborative effort, and while Camp Discovery will lead your program, teachers are expected to participate during the group’s visit.  If unforeseen circumstances arise, please call 803-754-2008.

Note: With the exception of service dogs for guests with disabilities, pets are not allowed on Camp Discovery grounds.

Food and Drinks

Camp Discovery does not have vending machines or water fountains.

Participants should bring drinks, including waters, snacks and/or bag lunches. Children will be outside for much of their program. If children bring water bottes, Camp Discovery can provide water coolers for the group's use. Picnic tables, grassy areas, quilts and benches are available for picnic lunches. Inside space is also available in case of inclement weather.

Financial and Special Assistance

Program grants are available to Title I schools, urban schools or schools or groups from under-served areas to offset field trip costs. Funds can underwrite a percentage of the program fees associated with a Camp Discovery visit. Scholarships are available throughout the entire school year, but educators are encouraged to book programs early as funds are limited. For scholarship requests, or if your group needs special considerations to participate in our programs, email programs@campdiscoverysc.org or call 803-754-2008.
