The Delicious Alchemy Banquet

It’s a year late, but we are ready to celebrate our Crystal Anniversary. Will you join us on May 3rd?

Hard to believe that more than fifteen years have flown by since we founded Recipe for Success Foundation to combat the devastating epidemic of childhood obesity in our town and beyond.  Even during the pandemic, the action has been non-stop to change the way kids understand, appreciate and eat food and empower parents and caregivers to put healthy food on the table.

Like you, we spent 2020 adapting to keep our powerful programs operating with a sharply reduced staff. Forced by quarantine to suspend Seed-to-Plate Nutrition Education™ in schools across the country, we reinterpreted its award-winning content to build eatitfoodadventures.org, a new online platform designed just for kids, debuting soon.  Buoyed by cook-at-home trends, our VegOut! 30 Ways in 30 Days Challenge continues to gamify healthy eating for thousands of families around the world.  And, despite a heart-rending Thanksgiving theft and crop-killing polar vortex, we repaired, rebuilt and continue to grow healthy, affordable produce and teach military veterans and others to become successful urban farmers at our 7-acre Hope Farms in the middle of Houston and partnered with generous donors to operate massive feeding events to put free bags of healthy Hope Farms produce in the hands of thousands of Houstonians who need it most.

We have all missed gathering around a beautiful table for a meal among friends, the hallmark of our Delicious Alchemy Banquet.  As our community gets vaccinated and Houston’s balmy spring weather returns, there will be no better place to congregate than our bucolic Hope Farms in the heart of the city, so we decided to reprise this most delightful dinner party there to celebrate perseverance.  With special joy, we will use the occasion to toast the iconic Peg Lee, a singular culinary visionary who taught so many Houstonians to cook and inspired, mentored and supported us when we launched these efforts decades ago.

We will gather on Monday, May 3 for our spectacular Crystal Anniversary Banquet featuring ten exquisite courses celebrating Houston's rich culinary diversity, crafted by ten extraordinary chefs, in a glorious pastoral setting—or as the Chronicle says, “the ultimate dinner party.”

We would be deeply grateful for your generous support of our signature event. It is especially critical this year. Nearly 100% of costs are donated so we hope to raise 20% of our 2021 budget.

Will you join us? Your help will make all the difference. We promise you a safe, socially distanced, enchanting evening in a magnificent setting. The un-gala gala.

We hope to see you at our (safely spaced) table!
