H-GAC Parks and Natural Areas (PNA) Field Trip on November 13

Join us for the Parks and Natural Areas (PNA) Subcommittee Fall Field Trip on Monday, November 13, from noon to 3:00 p.m. at the Natural Observation Area at National Oak Park in Alvin. The field trip begins at the Alvin Senior Center with lunch, provided by the City of Alvin, followed by a tour of the park. Transportation from the senior center to the park will be provided by the City of Alvin. Lunch begins at noon at 309 W. Sealy, Alvin.

This project, honored in 2017 by the Parks and Natural Areas Awards, engages residents in active local wildlife observation as well as onsite education about that wildlife and the ecosystem which sustains them.

The nature observation area includes an ADA-compliant observation deck for viewing Mustang Bayou, an outdoor classroom, a butterfly garden, and educational signs.

The PNA Subcommittee (of the Natural Resources Advisory Committee) serves as a forum for discussion of issues related to parks and natural areas, promotes the PNA Award Program, and maintains a regional inventory of parks. The PNA subcommittee facilitates information exchange and planning efforts between various stakeholders and collaborators to protect and preserve parks and natural areas across the region.

The PNA Subcommittee meets the second Monday of January, March, May, July, September and November and is open to anyone interested in participating.
