Rabbi Heidi Coretz Rev. Pamela Wat
All faith perspectives address issues related to death and dying. It is one's religious resources that most people turn to when faced with their own death or the death of others. The 2nd Community continues the series focused on this most universal of all topics on July 13 with presentations from Jewish and Unitarian Universalist perspectives.
Rabbi Heidi Coretz - For the past eleven years, Heidi Coretz has served at the Director of Hillel of Dallas, serving the Jewish students on the campuses of SMU and UT Dallas, as well as UT Arlington and the local community colleges. In 2013 dhe became the rabbi of a new congregation, Shir Tikvah in Frisco. Rabbi Coretz is married to Alan and they have four children.
Rev. Pam Wat began as Minister at Denton United Universalist Fellowship in the fall of 2010. Prior to coming to the Fellowship, Pam served as a hospice and hospital Chaplain. She volunteers with OUTreach Denton, a program creating resources for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and allied people in Denton, and she offers her leadership to local interfaith efforts. She lives in Denton with her spouse Erik and their cat Happy and dog Clyde.
The 2nd Community programs offer information, but our primary objective is for participants to become engaged with each other. We believe that we best bridge whatever separates us from those from cultures and religious traditions different from our own by getting to know each other as human beings with similar aspirations for our lives.
Please join us on July 13 and put the 2nd Monday of the month on your calendar through November. As the program unfolds you will learn about varied faith viewpoints about death as we explore “How do we prepare for our own death?” “What do we expect after death?” “How do we deal with the death of those we love?” “How do we talk to our children about death?"
