Southeastern CT Sub-regional Comprehensive Economic Development Plan Public Input Event

How can we improve the local and regional economy?

What do we have going for us?

What is holding us back?

We invite you to join with other residents, municipal officials, and stakeholders from Windham, Colchester, Lebanon, Franklin, and Sprague to share your thoughts about the future of your town and the region.  In preparation for the 2016 Comprehensive Economic Development Strategy Plan, the Southeastern CT Enterprise Region or seCTer, is hosting a discussion about the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and issues with respect to local and regional economic development. This “SWOT” analysis is a vital step in the planning process.

Why should I participate?

Creating a tightly coordinated region-wide economic development agenda requires an enormous amount of buy-in and participation from all local and regional organizations/stakeholders. The Southeastern CT Enterprise Region (seCTer) has a vested interest in you (the organization) implementing your individual projects/plans, because you are part of the bigger puzzle that when put together correctly (implemented as directed by the CEDS and facilitated by seCTer), improves all sectors of the economy.

What is the CEDS?

seCTer, which includes the 21 municipalities within New London County (Town of Windham added in 2015), prepares a CEDS for the region every 5 years. The 2016 CEDS will replace the 2011 CEDS and all prior updates and project lists. The purpose of the CEDS is to provide direction, focus - a framework from which to proceed and to which local plans can align to gain validity (strength), and alignment;  thus helping to facilitate implementation. The CEDS is the platform to which all stakeholders can align. The CEDS is a comprehensive analysis of the regional economy with clearly articulated goals and objectives that serve as a regional action plan. It also identifies investment priorities, funding sources, and clearly defined metrics designed to efficiently and easily monitor implementation and success (or failure).

Where is the SWOT event being held?

President Nunez of Eastern CT State University has graciously agreed to host the SWOT on Monday, February 29th (Snow Date 3/02/16) in the Student Center, Betty Tipton Room. Check in will be at 5:00pm and the formal program will begin at 5:30pm. Refreshments will be provided. The event will conclude at 7:30pm.
