Centered in Christ Study

In his letter to the Galatians, St. Paul writes:  "I have been crucified with Christ, and it is no longer I who lives but Christ who lives in me.  And the life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.  I do not nullify the grace of God; for if justification comes through the law, then Christ died for nothing" (Galatians 2:20-21).

During his ministry Martin Luther stressed, "...that we are justified by God's grace through faith in Jesus Christ."  Yet, as we approach the 500th Anniversary of the Reformation, it is remarkable that the majority of Lutheran Christians will say that they are "saved" because of what they have done.  If that is the case, St. Paul says, "...then Christ died for nothing."  So, what does it mean to keep our lives grounded and centered in Christ?

Through the use of hymns, study of Scripture,  a brief review of the Lutheran Confessions and conversation, Bishop Lohrmann will offer an opportunity for participants to review what it means to keep Christ at the center of our Bible study, teaching, preaching and living.  Participants will come out of the study with "Four Questions" that are helpful to ask when addressing a matter in their personal lives, their congregational ministry, or a Biblical text.  The questions point to how we can "make use" of the crucified and risen Christ and the promise of the Holy Spirit as we make our way through life.

This study is open to all who want to learn and reflect on what it means to keep our lives and ministries centered in the Good News of the Gospel.  We hope you will come-and bring a friend or two!
