Free Community Breakfast & Campaign Kick-Off

A Devereux Community Based Care event made possible by the support  and generosity of the Guardians for a New Future.

Please join us at this free community breakfast and help us kick off our 25 by 25 campaign. Our goal is to recruit and license 25 homes by December 25 - that's the number of homes we need to start moving children out of group care and bring home those living outside the community due to a shortage of foster homes.

If you sometimes think about being a foster parent, come to this breakfast. If you know someone who wants to be a foster parent, tell them about this event. If you belong to a church that might help us recruit foster parents, foward this email to your pastor. If you wonder how you can help, just show up.

Devereux Community Based Care is responsible for every known abused, abandoned and neglected child in Indian River, Martin, Okeechobee and St. Lucie counties. Our mission is to enhance the safety, permenancy and well being of those children through a community network of family support services.

Please join our mission. Come to our breakfast.

why it matters - by the people

A foster family enjoys a day at the park*"These kids need to know that there's someone out there fighting for them" - Mike

"I feel such joy when they find success" - Mary

"It's been so wonderful to watch the kids open up socially as they've learned to trust people" - Shari

Why it matters

* Research demonstrates that young children have poorer outcomes in shift care. Simply put, a young child is better off when he is awakened in the morning by the same people who put him to bed the night before.

* It costs four times as much to care for a child in group care as it does in a foster home. This is money that can be used to prevent children from entering care to begin with.
