A Loving Approach to Dementia Care

Today about 4-5 million people in the United States have some degree of dementia, and that number will increase to about 30 million by the year 2050.  According to the Alzheimer's Association there were an estimated 340,000 people with Alzheimer's Disease in Texas in 2010.

Caring for someone with dementia and memory loss means devotedly and patiently doing a hundred little things each day.  Few care providers are trained to meet the challenges of dementia.  They need the guidance to enter the world of the person who had dementia and cultivate more meaningful relationships with the dementia patient.  Laura Wayman's program emphasizes communication, affirmative response and empowerment - transforming the caregiving process from a burden into a fulfilling journey.  Her true stories of caregiving illustrate the principles of this loving approach, giving readers essential tools for connecting with people who have dementia.

  • Become a better and more caring caregiver.
  • Improve client relationships.
  • Learn to go “through the looking glass.”
  • Learn how to make meaningful connections with dementia clients.
