Virginia Mediation Network Webinar
Spring Conference Series Session 3
Tuesday, May 3, 2016
1:30 pm to 2:30 pm
"What is a Trauma - Informed Mediation Practice
and Why Do I Need One?"
It is critical to have an approach to mediation that is trauma sensitive and trauma informed. While trauma is extremely complex and multi- layered, this webinar will provide an overview to participants and expose them to three primary issues: how participants may come into mediation with experiences of trauma; how mediators are affected by secondary trauma; how the court system can be traumatic and thereby impact some participants in mediation. While the affect on children will be included, the purpose of this session is to provide a broader overview of these topics.
Pre-registration cost for VMN Members is $10.00; pre-registration cost for non-members is $40.00. Pre-registration is required. Registration will close on May 1, 2016 at 5:00 pm. Only 100 individuals will be able to participate on a first come, first serve basis. All conference materials will be emailed to attendees prior to the session. When registering for the webinar, please use the email address you will be using to sign into the webinar on the day of the session. Email instructions and reminders will be sent prior to the session.
The session is a 1.0 hour webinar with live discussion. This session is pending approval for 1.0 Continuing Mediator Education (CME) credits in General / Family by Dispute Resolution Services.
