Children and Mediation: What's a Mediator to do?
Welcome to Virginia Mediation Network's Regional Spring Conference. We are excited to introduce you to three aspects of dealing with children in mediation during this session.
Our first speaker will be Jim Pope, Esq. He will be dicussing child abuse and neglect and what mediators can do to comply with mandatory reporting requirements while minimizing the impact on mediation's core values, such as impartiality and confidentiality.
Our second speaker will be Andrea Palmisano, M.A.. Ms. Palmisano will discuss what every mediator needs to consider about the ethics of including and excluding children from partaking in mediation.
Our final speaker, James McCauley, Esq., will cover child support calculation and mediation: Is it ever the practice of law?
VMN Board Member Izabela Solosi will facilitate the video portion and a local onsite facilitator from VMN will handle the live discussion following each speaker.
There will be ten sessions from which to choose. The session is a 1.5 hour video with live discussion (totaling 30 minutes) to follow each speaker. This session is approved for 2.0 Continuing Mediator Education (CME) credits in Ethics by Dispute Resolution Services.
Pre-registration cost for VMN Members is $25.00, pre-registration cost for non-members is $75.00. Pre-registration is strongly encouraged as not all locations will have onsite registration(see below). All conference materials will be emailed to attendees prior to the session.
