We will be launching a new program which aims to introduce young musicians to the world of improvised music. This will be an ensemble geared towards students who already have intermediate ability on an instrument. The focus will be on the 20th century western music styles of jazz, rock, blues. Part of each class will be watching, listening and analyzing various historical references, as we discuss the various approaches to these styles and how they evolve over time. Part of each class will be concerned with music theory and ear training. And part of each class will be playing our instruments and making some music!
