Housing 2020: What is Shaping the Future of Housing in Virginia?

Much like the rest of the nation, the past five years marked the worst decline in decades for Virginia’s housing markets.

  • New home construction and the sales of existing homes plunged.
  • Home prices dropped as the market bubble burst.
  • Virginia saw more than 100,000 homeowners lose their homes through foreclosure and billions of dollars of home equity were lost.

If short-term recovery is all we are watching, we are missing an even bigger story! There are major shifts underway that will re-shape housing during this decade. "Housing 2020" is an interactive look at housing trends and the future of Housing in Virginia through four lenses:

Please join us to hear findings from Housing Virginia's Housing 2020 research on this from a statewide level, as well as, a regional perspective of how Hampton Roads region may look. This session will discuss the first two components of this 4-part series, Demographics and Economics.
