PR101 Workshop

Good public relations doesn’t require a huge budget or a large staff, but it does require a strategy. Please join the Southern Arizona Chapter of the Public Relations Society of America for PR101, a back-to-basics workshop that can help nonprofits, small businesses and community groups work smarter and use today’s communications tools and tactics to their advantage. Space is limited to 35 participants.

When:    Friday, September 12, 2014 | 9:00 a.m. - noon

Where:   Community Foundation for Southern Arizona | Tucson, AZ

Cost:      $25

PR101 workshop sessions and presenters:

  • Strategy, not Strategery: Why it's so important to have a public relations/communications plan, and what that plan should include. Presented by Lauri Huff, APR, Manager, Corporate Communications, Avnet, Inc.
  • Talking Points: Communicating clearly to internal audiences can stop rumors before they start and protect your organization's reputation. Presented by Libby Howell, Senior Administrator/Corporate Communications, Southwest Gas.
  • Social Media -- Handle With Care: Social media is one of your most powerful tools, yet many people jump into the mix without a strategy, a plan or even a clear idea of potential downside consequences. Learn how to keep your personal brand -- and that of your employer -- blemish-free and working for you across the realm of cyberspace. Presented by Jodi Horton, APR, Fellow PRSA, President of IDEAS@WORK, Inc.

  • Multipurpose Messaging: Concise, clear writing is critical in today's fragmented and increasingly electronic communications environment. Presented by Angela Hagen, Marketing & Communications Manager, Literacy Connects.

Online registration deadline extended to 9 a.m. Friday, September 12, 2014.
