The Out-of-Sync Child: Sensory Challenges and Sensible Solutions

Join us for a one-of-a-kind custom traning opportunity, developed by Carol Stock Kranowitz for AutismUp.  This traning will further develop education professionals' and caeregivers' ability to support individuals with autism and their learning.  

As an educator and writer for more than 25 years, Carol Stock Kranowitz is one of the foremosts experts in the field of Sensory Processing Disorder.  In her writings and workshops, she shows parents, educators, and other professionals how sensory issues play out--and provides fun and functional techniques for addressing them at home and school.  

Session 1: Sensory Processing
Examine the neurology of sensory processing in the body. Explore the eight sensory systems.  
Session 2: Identifying Sensory Processing Disorder
Learn the characteristics of SPD and the conditions often associated with it.  Children with SPD don't behave as you would expect; not because they won't, but because they can't. 
Session 3: Treating SPD
Explore treatment techniques and recent research, including Occupational Therapy.  Identify appropriate interventions to support individual children.
Session 4:  Kids Gotta Move
Discover fun, functional, hands-on activities that develop and enhance sensory and perceptual motor skills that will keep kids moving and learning.
