2013 Golf and Spa Event 

• The 2013 South Texas RIMS Chapter Golf & Spa Event will be held Wednesday, September 11th and Thursday, September 12th at the beautiful JW Marriott Resort and Spa in San Antonio, Texas.  The event will kick off with a mixer for all sponsors and participants at 6:00 pm on Wednesday, September 11th at the High Velocity Sport Bar, located on the lower level of the JW Marriott Hotel. The golf & spa events will begin with registration at 7:00 am on Thursday, September 12th with an 8:30 am shotgun start.  All golfers will have full access to the practice range and the opportunity to participate in the 8:00 am chipping/putting contest.

• This year, instead of selling mulligans and door prize tickets, we are offering participation in our SUPER TICKET!  The optional $30 donation provides each participant entry into the closest-to-the-pin contest(s), the longest drive contest(s), two mulligans and five ADDITIONAL door prize tickets!  The SUPER TICKET itself is also a scratch-off contest that provides the winner with a BRAND NEW TaylorMade R1 Driver.  We are also changing up our fundraising focus so that ALL of the donations towards the SUPER TICKET will be sent to the Spencer Educational Foundation!!

• While some will be hitting the links, others will enjoy a wonderful spa experience at the Lantana Spa. Those participants should arrange their spa schedules through our Lantana Spa Hostess - Nikki Helsel. Our event will conclude with a 1:00 pm lunch buffet and awards reception for all golf and spa participants in the High Velocity Sports Bar.  Awards will be provided to teams for low gross and low net scores, individual men and women longest drive and closest-to-pin, while all participants will have chances to win terrific door prizes.

• This annual event is the Chapter’s sole source of funding for its support of education in the risk and insurance management professions.  In doing so, South Texas RIMS supports the Risk and Insurance Management program at The Bill Greehey School of Business at St. Mary’s University and the Spencer Educational Foundation. St. Mary’s University is the only university in the South Texas region to have a degree program in the Risk & Insurance Management field. The tournament proceeds help fund scholarships for juniors and seniors in the program. Proceeds also help fund The Spencer Educational Foundation, which is a national organization that assists promising undergraduate and graduate students of Risk and Insurance Management. In addition, the chapter sponsors at least one St. Mary’s student each year for travel and participation in the annual RIMS Conference and Exhibition as well as provides awards to students who participate in internships with member companies and to members who complete professional designation/certification programs in the risk or insurance management field.
