Middle School Group to Increase Social Understanding

Ages
For boys and girls ages 11-14 years
Details

Middle school aged children are faced with several changing events around them as well as changes in their appearance, behavior, and thought process.  For a child on the spectrum these changes often create higher levels of stress, confusion, and withdrawn behavior.  In this six-week class the members will learn about a variety of topics that are relevant to their age.  The members will learn more about themselves as well as how they can get their needs met while also being more aware of the needs of others. This class is participant driven, kids talking about topics that they find interesting.  Common conversations and issues that have been discussed in past classes revolve around making and keeping friends, teasing, personal hygiene, bullying, as well as other topics.   There will also be communication between Wade, the instructor and the parents so that parents can follow through with this information at home and school.

The group is limited to 8 participants, and a minimum of 5 need to sign up for us to hold the group.
