2014 Autism Summer Symposium |
Literacy for All! Strategies to Support Emerging Readers on the Autism Spectrum Participants will learn the basics for teaching students with Autism Spectrum Disorders literacy skills by providing comprehensive instruction, using evidenced-based practices and strategies based on the Four Block reading method. This symposium is designed for individuals who want to understand and support the growth, development and learning of individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorders. This includes: special and general education teachers, reading specialists, family members and others interested in learning more about evidence-based practices in the area of literacy and Autism Spectrum Disorders.

The Autism Society of Southeastern Wisconsin
Founded in 1976, the Autism Society of Southeastern Wisconsin is part of the nation's leading grassroots autism organization working to improve the lives of all affected by autism. The Autism Society does this through increasing public awareness about the issues faced by people on the spectrum, advocating for appropriate services for individuals acress the lifespan, and providing the latest information regarding treatment, education, research, and advocacy. The Autism Society of Southeastern Wisconsin serves as the primary autism spectrum disorder resource for Milwaukee, Waukesha, Racine, Kenosha, Dodge, Jefferson, Ozaukee, Walworth, and Washington counties and is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization.
