MPI Masters Series:
'Deflaming' Patients with Diet & Supplements
Cincinnati, OH
David Seaman, DC, MS

Overview:
As little as 15 years ago, diet and inflammation was not a topic of interest. Information now abounds regarding the relationship between diet and inflammation. This program discusses how dietary excess of sugar, flour, and refined oils create chronic inflammation. This process occurs via postprandial hyperglycemia and endotoxemia, each which can become a chronic state in the fasting state. By addressing chronic inflammation properly, we can target the underlying cause of most chronic conditions, such as obesity, metabolic syndrome, diabetes, interstitial cystitis, depression, and migraine headache and other pain syndromes.

Objectives
By the end of the program, the attendee will be able to:

  1. understand how sugar, flour, and refined oils can inflame the body
  2. identify foods that promote dietary inflammation and weight gain
  3. discuss why supplements alone cannot adequately deflame the body
  4. understgand that diet and supplements can reduce chronic inflammation, rather than attempting to target a specific organ
