To be effective, facility managers must develop strategies to successfully carry out major initiatives by influencing the decisions and attitudes of others. Effective strategies require that facility managers are able to integrate people, places, processes and technology. They must be able to align the facility portfolio with the entire organization's missions and available resources, and to be innovative in order to move forward with their staff and processes to respond to the ever-changing requirements.

More About IFMA's Facility Management Professional (FMP) Credential.
In my opinion, this is the most critical component to successful Facility O&M Programs and, sadly, one of the weakest. As Proverbs says "without vision, the people perish"; this is true in life and in business. This course helps facility managers to set vision, mission, and goals that align with the overall organization. This course also guides the facility manager on selling and championing their program and managing the implementation thereof. This is my favorite course, and I strongly encourage all facility managers to take it.
