Living on One

“Living on One” is a documentary that focuses on the realization of extreme poverty and the challenges of living on $1 a day.  This full-day workshop will break the film down into 8 episodes and pair these segments with lessons that can be presented to middle and high school students.  During the workshop, we will demonstrate lessons highlighting topics such as scarcity, human capital, extreme budgeting, and entrepreneurship.  The film presents an ideal opportunity for project-based learning and will conclude with multiple ways to challenge your middle and high school students.

What is included?

• 7 hours of high-quality training, financial literacy certificate provided
  
• Aligned to K-12 NC Essential Standards in economics and personal finance (6-12)
  
• Lunch will be provided
• All participants receive free resources
• Q&A Panel with Personal Finance Experts will help you with questions about your own finances-purely educational in nature
• Reimbursement for Substitute Teacher Pay for teachers from Title 1 schools

Each teacher will leave with the following items:

• Discussion questions ideal for middle, high school and advanced level students
• Access to 8 episodes and ideas on pairing lessons
• Lesson demonstrations focusing on scarcity, the importance of investing in our human capital, extreme budgeting and entrepreneurship
• Project ideas for students
