Rear Admiral Margaret Kibben
Tuesday, May 7, 2013

Rear Admiral Margaret Kibben

Have you wanted to hear an objective perspective on the Muslim world today? Have you wondered what cultural differences our military men and women experience as they live in various areas around the world? Do you have concerns about how our military is caring for and integrating those returning from war with debilitating conditions?  Then you will want to attend the next Viewpoints event on Tuesday, May 7th as we hear from Rear Admiral Margaret Kibben. Those who have heard Admiral Kibben speak will attest to the provocative insight she provides on a variety of subjects.

Rear Admiral Kibben has received two Legion of Merit Awards, a Bronze Star, the Meritorious Service Medal three times and the Navy Commendation Medal three times during her military career.  She spends a great deal of the time in war theatres around the world in her role as Deputy Chief of Navy Chaplains and Chief Chaplain of the Marine Corps.  Her time in Washington is devoted to caring for our troops as the military considers such issues as women in the military and PTSD.

Rear Admiral Kibben received both her Masters of Divinity and her Doctorate of Ministry from Princeton Theological Seminary.  She served as a Fellow at the United States Institute of Peace and holds a Masters Degree in National Security and Strategic Studies from the Naval War College.

Chaplain Kibben entered active duty in the United States Navy in 1986 and has enjoyed assignments with the Marines at Quantico and Camp Lejeune and with the Navy at the Naval Academy, the USS San Diego (AFS-6), and the U.S. Third Fleet in San Diego.  In 2006, she deployed as the Command Chaplain, Combined Forces Command-Afghanistan.  In her present assignment to the Office of the Chief of Navy Chaplains, she has served as the Director for Force Structure and Community Management, prior to her current role as the Deputy Chief of Navy Chaplains and the Chaplain of the Marine Corps.

Please join us and Rear Admiral Kibben in the Fellowship Center at the Village Church on Tuesday, May 7th. The evening will begin with wine and light hors d’oeuvres at 6:00 pm. The discussion will be held from 6:30 - 8:00 and will include time for audience questions. Tickets are $20 in advance or $25 at the door. Advance ticket purchase is encouraged and may be purchased either on-line at villageviewpoints.com or by calling (858) 381-8070.

Viewpoints is co-presented by The Village Church and the Rancho Santa Fe Foundation. The goal of the lecture series is to inform, inspire and impact by providing a forum in which individuals, renown in their field, share their knowledge, wisdom and insight with members of our community.
