2014 Report Card for Vermont's Infrastructure Release Event

Please join the Vermont Section of American Society of Civil Engineers in the unveiling of the 2014 Report Card for Vermont's Infrastructure. The grades of Vermont's infrastructure will be announced over lunch with a Keynote speech from Sue Minter, the Vermont Agency of Transportation Deputy Secretary, who has a unique insight on Vermont's infrastructure after leading the effort to rebuild after Irene.

ASCE's Vermont Section represents nearly 400 engineering professionals in the state.  Using a simple A to F school report card format, the 2014 Report Card will provide a comprehensive assessment of current infrastructure conditions and needs, assign grades and make recommendations for how to raise the grades.  The Report Card is written by ASCE members in Vermont who assign the grades according to the following seven criteria: capacity, condition, funding, future need, operation and maintenance, public safety, and resilience.

The original Vermont Report Card was released in 2011, and the goal of this updated 2014 Report Card is to raise public awareness about the needed investement in Vermont's infrastructure.  ASCE also applauds the enactment of the recent funding package that will help raise the infrastructure grades as projects are completed.  An additional goal is to give policymakers solid recommendations that the state can use to better regulate and fund infrastructure.
