The goal of Civic Engagement Institute for Youth is to educate students on how to use their resources to impact change and teach best practices of civic engagement. During the institute students from throughout the Big Brothers Big Sisters of Northeast LA service area (Franklin, Lincoln, Morehouse, Ouachita, Richland & Union Parishes) will work together to identify issues, share ideas and design solutions to impact real change! On Day 2, their proposal will be presented to a panel of community leaders and policymakers.
Sponsored by CenturyLink & Louisiana Children's Trust Fund, this 2 day event brings high school SOPHOMORES & JUNIORS from throughout Northeast LA together and serves as a forum to improve communication skills, identify community issues and empower our greatest asset- our youth!
Event Schedule: Wednesday, April 19, 2017 4:00 pm - 7:00 pm & Thursday, April 20, 2017 9:00 am-5:00 pm
This event is free of charge for participants, meals, door prizes and snacks will be provided; however transportation is NOT provided.
**NOTE: Students receive an excused absence from school to attend this special event.**
