The Washington Council of Lawyers is pleased to host a two-hour brown bag litigation skills training session focused on the issue of case theory.  Through lecture and demonstration, we will review planning the litigation process and common approaches to case theory. Then, you will be on your feet to put those ideas into practice through small group breakout sessions guided by experienced litigators.

Our lecturer will be Michael Fitzpatrick, Director of the Guardian ad Litem Program at the Children's Law Center. The Guardian ad Litem Program represents 500 children a year in abuse and neglect cases in the District of Columbia, and also provides training, support and mentoring to private attorneys on these types of cases. Michael previously served as the GAL program’s training director, ensuring attorneys received intense preparation in courtroom advocacy skills, knowledge of the many areas of law that affect children, an understanding of child development and trauma, and the specifics of DC’s foster care and child welfare system. Michael is a veteran lecturer for the Washington Council of Lawyers Litigation Skills Training programs, and we are delighted to have him return for this specialize course on case theory.

Materials for the training will be sent via email about one week prior to the training. If you have not received the materials by November 6, please contact Nancy Lopez.

The cost of the training is $24 for WCL members and $50 for non-members.
