Volunteers will be revegetating a portion of Stone Lakes National Wildlife Refuge by planting native trees and shrubs in abandoned agricultural lands. We hope to plant 200 new tree and shrub seedlings, which will someday provide habitat for local wildlife. All training and tools for this event will be provided.
Please arrive by 9:00 and expect to stay and work until 12:00.
Planting will take place on uneven and possibly muddy ground. Please be prepared with closed toed, preferably water resistant/proof, shoes and weather appropriate clothing layers.
To access the parking area, minimal off-road driving on dirt and gravel roads may be required. After parking, we will be walking 3/4 to 1-1/2 miles to the planting area, depending on road conditions.
