Local Leadership on Clean Energy:  Incentives and Energy Savings for Residents, Businesses & Local Governments (Hammonton Workshop)

Energy can account for as much as 10% of a town's annual operating budget. Save money by improving energy efficiency in existing buildings and designing new buildings to be energy efficient. Investing in energy conservation measures in taxpayer-funded facilities serves to reassure constituents that tax dollars are being spent wisely and showcases energy-efficient technologies.

To achieve a broader impact, local government-led programs that educate the public on the benefits of energy efficiency and link residents and businesses with tangible assistance in the form of incentives and other funding opportunities have produced energy, economic and other benefits for communities across the country.

Learn how local governments can promote energy efficiency by developing and implementing strategies that improve municipal facility and operations efficiency, and encouraging residents and buisnesses to also expore energy efficiency improvements.

Topics:

  • Options to improve the energy efficiency of municipal facilities and operations
  • Steps and considerations involved in developing and implementing energy efficiency improvements
  • Investment and funding opportunities including NJ Clean Energy Programs that provide financial and technical assistance
  • Strategies for motivating residents and businesses to undertake energy efficiency improvements
  • Sustainable Jersey actions and guidance related to energy efficiency initiatives
