The Issues and Ramifications surrounding an
               Attack on a "Soft Target"
  1.  March 20th Meeting, University of Denver

.

  Friends and colleagues:

Please save the date of March 20th for the next meeting of the Colorado Emergency Preparedness Partnership (CEPP) to be held in metro Denver at the University of Denver campus. It's our first meeting of the year in metro Denver. We will discuss the issues and ramifications surrounding an attack on a "soft target", much like the infamous Mumbai, India attacks of 2008, the more recent Kenya shopping mall attack of 2013r even the Aurora theater shooting of July 2012. The rise of these soft- target attacks and those on schools can cause a Our panel will include emergency management, law enforcement and private sector officials who manage the operations or security at the Pepsi Center, TIAA Cref, the Brown Palace, and the Cherry Creek Shopping Center. What have they learned from Mumbai and Kenya, and how would they deal with the chaos caused by similar situations? How must they plan and prepare for such tragic events? Whether you operate a business, are an emergency manager or a member of law enforcement, this meeting will provide helpful information about a pressing security concern we face today.
As with all CEPP meetings, onsite registration with refreshments begins at 8:15 am, but to speed the registration process and to ensure there are ample refreshments, we ask that you pre-register online either at the link above or at www.thecepp.org. The panelist discussion will begin at 9am and end at approximately 11:15 am.
The location of the meeting is the University of Denver, Lindsay Auditorium, Room 28, Sturm Hall, 2000 E. Asbury Avenue, Denver, CO, 80210. A downloadable Parking Pass is required to enter the Parking Garage (L), which is directly east across the campus green from Sturm Hall and on the north side of DU’s School of Law.  Enter on East Asbury Avenue and scan the bar code on the parking permit at the gate to the garage.  Click here to download the Parking Permit. Parking is complimentary with the pass.
Please join us on March 20th for this important meeting. We hope to see you there.great can cause a great loss of life, significant destruction of property and lingering ramifications to area businesses and the community as a whole. Such attacks, no matter the source, are of deep concern to US law enforcement personnel today.
