The Philadelphia high school Regulars who danced on Dick Clark’s American Bandstand in the late 1950s and the early 1960s became national superstars, America’s first reality stars. Teens and young adults copied their fashions, fads and dance steps; fans mobbed them everywhere they went. But fame, fleeting as it may be, these young dancers were abruptly forced to leave the popular television show and soon disappeared from the sight of their adoring teenage American public.

Fans, to this day, have long wondered whatever became of Arlene and Kenny, Bob and Justine, Frani, Pat Carole, Billy and so many of the Regulars that we once loved to see dance. Bandstand Diaries brings us the stories, interviews and more than 300 nostalgic photos of these wonderful dancers from American Bandstand.

Sharon Sultan Cutler, the book’s Chicago creator and co-author of Bandstand Diaries, will share stories of those unforgettable memory-filled days when television was in grainy black and white, and when a 45 RPM record cost less than 70 cents
