Virginia Retail Merchants Association Annual Meeting

Join us for our 112th Annual Membership Meeting at the Doubletree Hotel in Charlottesville on Friday, October 6th. This event is a chance to network with your peers, hear updates from Virginia Retail Merchants Association, and political updates from Bob Holsworth.

VRMA is your VOICE at the General Assembly. This year, we will host an education session in the morning. We will also present the Legislator of the Year Award to the Virginia Legislator whose outstanding contributions have positively impacted the Virginia retailing community.

The highlight of the day is the Annual Meeting. Partake in our complimentary cocktail hour while shopping the VRMA Silent Auction. Board members will give an update of the activities of the association this past year. Political analyst Bob Holsworth will give his always witty and insightful thoughts on the upcoming elections during lunch.

This is a great opportunity for you and your family and/or friends to enjoy the rich and colorful history of Charlottesville!

Your registration includes continental breakfast during registration, lunch and cocktail hour while shopping in our Annual Silent Auction.

About the Event:

Educational Workshop: "Employment Updates that Impact your Business", lead by Randy Sparks of Kaufman & Canoles - In 2017, large and small retailers faced dozens of new government changes dealing with the status of wage and hour law, the current laws on LGBT discrimination, the reduced standards for finding workplace harassment, and other major human resource policies that have legal ramifications. This mini-seminar will review all of the major changes and discuss how those changes will impact you, your employees, and your business as a whole. Regardless of your business’s size, this is important information you can use. Be sure to bring everyone on your team who handles your most valuable business asset - YOUR EMPLOYEES. Our speaker, Randy Sparks, is a member of the Labor and Employment Law Practice Group at Kaufman & Canoles. Supported by SCORE Small Business Mentors - Central Virginia. Be sure bring your employees! This is open to VRMA members AND the public!

Legislative Meeting - Our Director of Governrment Affairs, Petrina Jones, will recap the highs and lows of the 2017 General Assembly Legislative Session with an in-depth overview of VRMA's legislative accomplishments.  This session is open to current VRMA members.

Bob Holsworth, Political Analyst - Bob provides entertaining and amusing insight on the current political climate and his forecast for upcoming elections - both local and national. Be sure bring your employees! This is open to VRMA members AND the public!

Silent Auction - During lunch and cocktails, get a headstart on your holiday shopping. Help the Virginia Retailers Political Action Committee (VARPAC) during our annual FUNraiser by shopping at the silent auction. Items will be available to bid on and include gift baskets, gift cards, and furniture.
