A SAPA Candid Conversation - 9/11, A Retrospective and Lessons Learned for Emergency Preparedness

Join us for another NYSAPA Candid Conversation!

This session will be led by Robert Griffin who is the Dean of the College of Emergency Preparedness, Homeland Security and Cybersecurity (CEHC) at the University at Albany, and Roger Parrino (invited), Commissioner of the NYS Division of Homeland Security and Emergency Services (DHSE).

It has been almost 17 years since the World Trade Center and Pentagon attacks. More recently, domestic shootings have been in the spotlight and included as part of the Homeland Security responsibility.

New York continues to be a target of national and international terrorist incidents and threats. What lessons have we learned during the last 17 years that will help prevent or contain another 9/11 type incident. What preventative steps can be taken against domestic terrorism?  As public administrators, how are we linked to prevention strategies?
