Reduced water flow in buildings creates a favorable environment for an increase in bacteria growth. Disinfectants are usually replaced during normal building operations, but diminish as conditions stagnate. In addition to bacteria and biofilm growth, stagnant water conditions will increase concentration of metals such as iron, copper and lead.
