Sweetland Hall
12:30-2:30
As a deacon in Los Angeles, she worked with urban churche to establish innovative nutrition and fitness programs and taught at UCLA's School of Public Health. "My work in public health was a ministry long before I recognized it as such," she says.
Joanne will share her experience with maternal and child malnutrition issues in sub-Saharan Africa and efforts to reduce health inequalities in underserved communities of Los Angeles. In addition, she will share her vision of the critical role that deacons play in the contemporary church, and we will hear about the incredible breadth of ministries of the fifty deacons who currently serve our diocese. She will clarify how the call to be a deacon is different than the call to the priesthood and to lay leadership.
This progam is open to all. $15.00 entrance fee is payable at the door and includes lunch and program. All profits from this program will be donated to Community Health Councils, (CHC) of Los Angeles. You can
