So you thought you knew it all! What if we told you that what you don’t know can hurt your patient’s health in the long run? Dental professionals are lagging far behind in applying Evidence-Based Decision Making (EBDM) and it is time to catch up! Evidence-based decision-making helps us decide which products, therapies and treatment we recommend for our patients. It is based on sound research and knowledge and not on myths, anecdotal evidence or “ this is the way we have always done it” type of thinking. Ms. Slim and Ms. Grill will teach you what you need to do to sift through the research and decide on the best treatment for your patients as a Dental Hygiene professional as well as how you can actually conduct research in your own practice.

Lynne Slim, RDH, BSDH, MSDH is the periodontal therapy columnist for RDH magazine, an award winning dental author who has published extensively in dental/dental hygiene journals and is the owner of PerioCDent, a practice management company specializing in incorporating non-surgical periodontal therapy within dental practices. Ashley Grill, RDH, BSDH, MPH is a Past President of NHDHA, currently an Assistant Professor of Dental Hygiene at NYU College of Dentistry, Core Coordinator for the PEARL Network, member of ADHA Council on Research and VP of Professional Development of NYDHA.
