Testimonials
“This class has made me feel wonderful. I have a new appreciation for myself and really have learned to put myself first and to be aware of how things make me feel. I feel prepared to bring this to my students and to cultivate a mindful classroom. I feel that my taking this class will be extremely beneficial to my students and to me.”
Christina Lundblad, Kindergarten Teacher Pinecrest EL, MBST
“You are the world expert on your life, your body, and your mind, or at least you are in the best position to become that expert if you observe carefully. Part of the adventure of meditation is to use yourself as a laboratory to find out who you are and what you are capable of doing.”
Jon Kabat-Zinn - Full Catastrophe Living
Mindfulness is a way of learning to relate directly to whatever is unfolding in your life, moment-to-moment, with awareness, compassion, acceptance, and curiosity. This course is a secular, scientifically informed approach that operates in harmony with any belief system or spiritual background and can be practiced by people of all backgrounds. No prior experience is necessary.
Over four decades of scientific research at medical centers all over the world demonstrate that training in mindfulness can positively and profoundly affect participants’ ability to reduce medical symptoms and psychological distress while learning to live life with more enjoyment and balance.
The Mindfulness-Based Schools Training (MBST) provides practical ways of integrating mindfulness into daily life through regular personal practice, and offers educators tools for bringing age-appropriate mindfulness practices to the children they serve. The first half of the series emphasizes self-care through exploration of essential elements of the world-renowned and research-based Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) program. The series continues with the complete Mindful Teachers Training Program (MTTP), teaching educators how to bring mindfulness practices, games, activities and skills based on social-emotional learning to children and youth. The MTTP supports commitment to personal practice, the foundation for bringing mindfulness to others through the embodiment of qualities of a mindful teacher. This approach facilitates youths ability to strengthen focus, attention, emotional and behavioral regulation, and compassion and empathy for themselves and others.
