Dorlie BanbanasteDorlisa Banbanaste,
Dorlisa Banbanaste holds a degree in Music Theory and Performance and a Master’s degree in Mental Health Counseling. She has worked with children, teens and adults struggling with substance use and mental health issues since 2007. She valued bringing mindfulness to her clinical work and introducing her clients to mindful games and activities. Dorlisa participated in the IJ-MBSR Program with Valerie-York Zimmerman and from then on knew formal mindfulness practice would always be a part of her life. Recently she has participated in an MBSR Program and MBSR Teacher Tutorial with Zayda Vallejo. She has completed the Practicum from the Center for Mindfulness (CFM), University of Massachusetts Medical School and will complete the Teacher Development Intensive with the CFM in September 2016.   During her tenure at MKM she has co-led a Mindful Teacher Training Program, a Grads Group mindfulness series and has presented various workshops throughout the county.  Dorlisa aspires to help others in an integrative and research-based platform as a part of Mindful Kids Miami while the organization continues to develop and fill a major need in Miami-Dade County.

8-Week MBSR Program

Wednesday Mornings

Starting 9-28-2016 @ 10 am

“You are the world expert on your life, your body, and your mind, or at least you are in the best position to become that expert if you observe carefully. Part of the adventure of meditation is to use yourself as a laboratory to find out who you are and what you are capable of doing.” Jon Kabat-Zinn - Full Catastrophe Living.

Since its inception in 1979, tens of thousands of people have completed the eight-week Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction Program (MBSR) and learned how to use their innate resources and abilities to respond more effectively to stress, pain, and illness. Mindfulness is a way of learning to relate directly to whatever is unfolding in your life, moment-to-moment, with awareness, compassion, acceptance, and curiosity. MBSR is a secular, scientifically informed approach that operates in harmony with any belief system or spiritual background and can be practiced by people of all backgrounds. No prior experience is necessary.

Over three decades of scientific research at medical centers all over the world demonstrate that training in mindfulness and MBSR can positively and profoundly affect participants’ ability to reduce medical symptoms and psychological distress while learning to live life with more enjoyment and balance.

Join Mindful Kids Miami & Mindful Miami for Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR), the eight-week course developed by Jon Kabat-Zinn and the University of Massachusetts Medical School’s Center for Mindfulness. The course teaches practical ways to integrate mindfulness into daily life and build and sustain a personal mindfulness practice.
