The Wyoming Retail Association is thrilled to announce the 2014 Wyoming Retail Summit. This year’s event will be a luncheon featuring U.S. Senator Mike Enzi as our keynote speaker. Senator Enzi, a former Wyoming retailer himself, has long championed the need for a level playing field for brick and mortar retailers and is the primary sponsor of “The Marketplace Fairness Act.”
Wyoming retailer’s, whose stores employ thousands of Wyoming residents, have endured a competitive disadvantage to online retailers for many years and the issue remains a top priority. It is common in today’s retail world for customers to visit local businesses so they can see, touch and educate themselves about products they are interested in, only to then buy them online where they can save on average 5-10%, by not paying sales tax. On big-ticket items in particular, these savings can be significant.
