Over the course of the last decade, the construction/design community have gone through a major upheaval. In the last 10 years, firms have transitioned from using AutoCAD 14 and X-Refs to cloud based IPD efforts using BIM for design through facility management. Throughout this time, there has been relatively little advancement in the way that project specifications have been put together. Specifications contain a great deal of project information that is crucial to the design and construction process. How should our perspectives change on specifications and how should this integral building information be brought into the collaborataive process that our projects are demanding?
