  •       Healthy You: A Teen Guide to Healthy Living

Facilitator: Tanisa Spencer, RD, CDN

Program Description:  

Eating well is often hard for teens. Hanging with friends, eating fast food and snacking can lead to excessive intake of fat, sugar and calories and insufficient intake of vitamins and minerals. Adolescence is a time of increased nutrient needs. This workshop will provide participants with an overview of basic nutrition and healthy eating. It explores food composition and dietary guidelines.  By the end of the session participants will be able to:
  • Read and Understand Food Labels
  • Make Healthy Food Choices
  • Avoid Fad Diets

Session 2:  10:00a – 10:45a

  •      Teens, Tweens, and In-Betweens Financial Workshop

Program Description:

Knowing how to properly manage your money is important to everyone’s well-being and quality of life. It’s not just about saving money to buy the latest in fashion—it’s about properly managing your money over the course of your life! The Teens, Tweens, and In-Betweens Financial Workshop will teach you about:

  • How to save and spend your money wisely
  • What ‘good credit’ is and how to maintain it
  • Living debt-free

Session 3:  11:00a – 12:15p

  •   Revealing the Lady and Gentleman Within

Program Description:

There is a beautiful, gentle, confident young lady or young gentleman in each of us. We reveal that person through our self-image. The goal of this workshop is to create your personal image by focusing on the essentials of grooming, proper introductions and polite conversations.

 By the end of the workshop, you will be able to:

  • Define image.
  • Create your own image and style.
  • List six characteristics of a confident person.
  • List aspects of proper grooming.
  • Demonstrate a proper introduction.
  • Engage in a polite conversation.
