NFPA - The Impact on Codes & Standards

Thursday, October 15, 2020

Dear Colleagues:  Hopefully all of you are well both physically as well as mentally during this trying time.  As we embark on our next meeting, the NJ IFMA Program's Committee has circled us back to our core competencies as FMs.  COVID-19, while very important, has been an exhausting experience.  This meeting gives us an opportunity to get back to NJ IFMA's roots on just as an important matter that has an impact on how we run our facilities:  Fire Codes & Standards.  I look forward to having you join us for this important subject matter.

Regards,
Israel Rodriguez, CFM
NJ IFMA President

Description:  Join NJ IFMA for its October Chapter Meeting via Zoom.

The National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) is a global self-funded non-profit organization, established in 1896, devoted to eliminating death, injury, property and economic loss due to fire, electrical and related hazards.

Virtually every building, process, service, design, and installation is affected by NFPA's 275+ codes and standards.  Their codes and standards, all available for free online access, reflect changing industry needs and evolving technologies, supported by research and development, and practical experience.

We will learn how to understand the Code and Standards process that impacts your business daily.  Fire Chief Gregory Cade will introduce the process used in the USA and NFPA's role in developing codes and standards that are used here and in 58 countries around the world.  Attendees will be informed about how and why they should participate in the process that directly affects their businesses.

Learning Objectives:

 1.  Basic understanding of who is NFPA and how what we do affects NJ                IFMA.

2,  Learning about Specific codes that affect your business (NFPA 101, 241-         51b, 25,915)
