Working Collaboratively To Leverage Our Investments in the States: The GIST Mapping Project
Please join us on July 29 for a preview of a new online interactive mapping tool developed by The Grantmakers Income Security Taskforce.
This mapping tool was designed to help illustrate to funders where investments are being made in policy, advocacy and communications work in the states, and to help foster connections across these efforts. To date, contact information on more 650 key groups in the states that national initiatives and communications firms are working with has been collected from 24 sources. In addition, demographic, income security, and voting information has been added to increase our analytic ability and add context to the maps.
There will be two access options to the new online maps:
- Public: These maps will be published to the GIST web site and available to anyone. We anticipate this will include a limited number of base maps that display the concentration of efforts in the states, but not the additional demographic, income security and political information that adds analytic and mapping context.
- Private, password protected: These maps will include additional analytic data and can only be accessed by having an “online seat” or user name and password. They are published on a secure, hosted environment that can be accessed via a URL link and viewed on a web browser or on a tablet. Online seats will be available to GIST members through a yearly subscription process.
Join us for an in-depth demonstration of this new exciting new resource, highlighting key features and content of both the public and password protected maps, and illustrating how it can be used to help shape and inform your grantmaking.
This tool builds on GIST's current geographic tracking spreadsheet and analysis by adding additional national initiatives, creating ways to make the maps interactive, and providing additional analytics capacity to the maps. National networks represented on the maps include:

- Alliance for Early Success
