Research Development Opportunities

Date: Tuesday, April 9th

 Location: Crosstown Building, 2nd floor

1) Trainee Breakfast (8:30-10:00AM)

Students, post-docs, and faculty interested in the fields of HIV and/or substance use are invited to attend our breakfast. The purpose of this breakfast is to talk with URBAN ARCH and CFAR investigators and explore opportunities for research projects. This session will include an informal group breakfast and sign-up sessions to meet one-on-one with senior investigators including clinicians, epidemiologists, biostatisticians and NIAAA HIV/AIDS Director Kendall Bryant.

2) Specific Aims Critique Session (10:00AM-11:30AM)

Judith Hahn, PhD, MA, Professor in Residence at the University of California San Francisco and Principal Investigator of Uganda ARCH, will be hosting a specific aims critique session. Post-docs and junior faculty members who are applying for K, R21, R03, CFAR, or small R01 grants are welcome to submit their specific aims pages for review and feedback.

Priority will be given to alcohol and HIV grant submissions. If you are interested, please submit your specific aims pages by Monday, March 18th to carly.bridden@bmc.org. Individual feedback sessions will then be scheduled during the 10am-11:30 am time.

3) Alcohol Measurement Presentation (11:30AM-12:45PM)

Join us for a presentation on methods to assess alcohol use in research studies, including self-report instruments and biological markers. This session will focus on the technical aspects and advantages/challenges of implementing various alcohol measurement methods.
