Due to the high rate of relapse occurring shortly after discharge from treatment and research findings identifying trauma and brain impairment as triggers for relapse, the need for Recovery Specialists is growing.
A Certified Recovery Specialist is trained in practical application, personal characteristics, ethical standards, legal issues, and best practices for individuals and families of those struggling with substance use disorder, addiction or behavioral and/or mental health challenges.
We provide the highest standard of cutting-edge, ethical, trauma- and research-informed training and bring innovative treatment modalities that support sustainable long-term recovery for individuals and families. This is NEXT LEVEL training for advanced peer recovery as our focus is not only on individual recovery, but also on how to collaborate with families, professionals and community members.

UPON SUCCESSFUL COMPLETION OF THE 4-DAY COURSE, STUDENTS WILL BECOME PROFICIENT IN:

This training will take place over 4 days and registrants can choose any or all days. Total training includes 24-hours of instruction, online independent study, PLUS 12 hours of video consultation. Please note: completion of all four days is required to become fully certified.
Day 1: Recovery Specialist Fundamentals - Introduction to the Field, Professional Ethics, Cultural Awareness, Overview of the Recovery Specialist Role, Overview of Fields of Addiction and Mental Health, and Recovery Specialist Tools & Skills
Day 2: Recovery Specialist Application - Developing Recovery Capital, Role & Relevance of the Family, Client Goals, Recovery Plans & Crisis Management
Day 3: Diving Deeper as a Recovery Specialist - Safe Passage, Recognizing Detox, Relapse/Recurrence, Co-Occuring Disorders, Abstinence and Behavior Change Contracts
Day 4: Becoming a Professional Recovery Specialist - Professional Standards, CRS Portfolio, Scope of Practice, Collaborating with Community Professionals, and Consultation
