October 2, 2018 Estate Planning Council Meeting

Our Speaker is
William I. Sanderson, Partner
McGuireWoods

The Topic is
What We Don’t Talk About When We Talk About Estate Planning

The recent changes in tax laws have provided a nearly a decade of estate planning opportunities for many of our clients. Seismic demographic shifts in the population, rapidly evolving family and social norms, and even the recent tax laws have presented significant challenges to the estate planning community and our clients. The talk will address those changes and evolutions, with an eye towards the way they shape planning for our clients and the way we practice.

Bill is the co-chair of McGuireWoods' private wealth services group and a member of the firm’s fiduciary advisory services practice. He represents both high-net worth individuals and families on a variety of sensitive and complex estate and business planning matters. His practice focuses on the areas of estate planning and estate and trust administration.

A frequent speaker, Bill has also taught Federal Taxation Practice and Procedure at Virginia Commonwealth University School of Business.

Prior to completing his law degree at the University of Virginia School of Law, Bill completed coursework at the University of South Carolina School of Law. While attending the University of Virginia, Bill was a member of the Raven Society and the Jefferson Literary and Debating Society.
