 Fall 2015 Servant Leadership Course

Servant Leadership is a path and practice that invites us into deeper relationship with God and others as we explore both an inward journey of personal transformation and an outward journey of sacred service.

Robert Greenleaf coined the term "servant leadership" as an alternative leadership style for the business world.  Episcopal Bishop Bennett Sims recognized that Greenleaf's term spoke to the heart of the Christian journey.  Bishop Sims pioneered the articulation of servant leadership in the life of faith and explained its application to all vocations and roles as a transformative way of life.

We will explore three practices at the heart of Servant Leadership:

  • Communion—Prayer & Practice of Presence
  • Compassion—Awakening the Intelligence of Heart
  • Co-creation—Alignment with Divine Power & Purpose

Classes will be held at Chapel of the Cross in Chapel Hill from 9:15am-11:30am on Fridays, September 9th through November 4th for a total of 9 sessions.

The sliding scale registration fee ($100-$200) includes copies of readings, class materials and handouts.  Scholarships are available, contact sarah@johnsonservicecorps.org.

This course is sponsored by Johnson Service Corps and is open to adults of all ages and all deonominations and spiritual traditions.  To learn more about Johnson Service Corps, please visit our website and watch our video.
