What Is Sheltering Arms?

Sheltering Arms is metro Atlanta’s oldest nonprofit child care provider. Our mission is to serve working families with high quality, affordable child care and education and comprehensive support services, as well as to provide professional development for early childhood educators and community outreach.  We serve more than 2,500 children each year, ages six weeks to five years old, and their families, in 15 child care centers in seven counties.

For more information on Sheltering Arms please visit their website.

Donate Now!                                   Help make a difference in the life of a child!

Reading has power for young children.  Stories develop a love and understanding of language that is the precursor to strong reading skills.  Stories instill life lessons about character and the choices we make.  Stories not only take us to other cultures and other lands; they also provide common language and experiences that unite us with our own community.  As a donor, you can bring the whole world to a child by sharing your love of reading.

Did You Know?

  • 89% of Sheltering Arms families need financial assistance with tuition?
  • $11,000 is the average cost per child for year of child care?
  • Research has shown that many low income families have no books at home?
  • Early Education can drastically prevent drop-out and crime rate?
  • 95% of Sheltering Arms students meet or exceed school readiness standards?

Considering that 90% of a child’s brain develops in the earliest years of life, your donation can have a lifelong impact on a child and on their contribution to our community.

Thank you for caring for our kids!
