Breaking Down Walls is an event that will be held on Sunday May 21, 2017 in Melbourne, Florida. Breaking Down Walls aims to increase dialogue between Muslims and non-Muslims so that they recognize commonalities between themselves and see that in many ways we are all the same.
This event is the second in a series of Breaking Down Walls events. At the first Breaking Down Walls meeting, which took place earlier this year, Muslim and Christian women learned about each other and their religions through one-to-one conversations.
The next Breaking Down Walls event will take place on Sunday May 21, 2017 from 4:00 pm to 6:30 pm at Groundswell Startups in Melbourne, Florida. This event will focus on acquiring knowledge about different religions as well as having dialogue between women who have different religious beliefs.
The Breaking Down Walls event will begin with a panel discussion. Panealists Rabbi Hickman, Sally Sabawi, and a local pastor will explain the brief history and basic beliefs of the religion they practice (Judaism, Islam, and Christianity respectively) and answer questions from the audience. After the questions are over, there will be one-to-one conversations where participants will find someone they do not know of the opposite faith, introduce themselves, and engage in personal conversation. The event will end with a potluck dinner. Please bring a dish to share if you would like.
This event is for women only. Please feel free to invite your friends, coworkers, and family. Women of any religious belief (including none) are invited to participate.
