The 2013 "Overhaul" was a hit!
We listened to your suggestions and are working to make
Bike Van Buren XXVIII better than ever!

We will continue to offer Adult and Child (under 14) registration fees as well as 1-day and 2-day options. We will also offer Lunch and our Commemorative T-shirt as separate purchase options.

Three route options will be offered on each day.
                                              Saturday will have a 58.4m., 43.4m. and a 31.2m. route option.

                                              Sunday will have a 52.9m.. 34m. and a 17.2m. route option.
Each route will BEGIN and END in Keosauqua.

Saturday's routes will include sections of the Historic Hills Scenic Byway. The "DEER RUN ROUTE" will include 4 hospitality stops within 30m., lunch will be served at 40.3m. with a hospitality stop at 46.8m. and then a straight shot of 11.6m. which will end the day back in Keosauqua for a total of 58.4 m. for the day. "TURKEY TRAIL ROUTE" also offered on Saturday with a 9:00AM start time, will have a total of 4 hospitality stops. Lunch will be at 25.3m. with the remaining 18.1m. headed back to Keosauqua for a total of 43.4m. for the day. "BUNNY HOP" will have 10:00am start time with 2 hospitality stops.

Sunday will include "JACK RABBIT TRAIL"  which will be 25.7m. to lunch and an additional 27.2 miles back to Keosauqua for a total of 52.9m. for the day. The "FOX TROT" will also have 25.7 miles to lunch and an additional 8.3m. back to Keosauqua for a total of 34m. for the day. The "BOOMERANG" will have a 10:00am start time and is essentially a 8.3m. ride to lunch and back. The JACK RABBIT and BOOMERANG both include BILLY GOATS PASS with aggressive hills and curves. Sounds too daunting? We have a 4m. alternative route.

Technical support will be provided by
Bickels Cycling & Fitness . Free SAG support will be provided by Villages of Van Buren staff and volunteers. The crews will be in full force on all of the route options for both days. Each vehicle will be equipped with FREE cold bottled water, limited first aid and assistance as needed. (Please bring your cell phone to insure quick service should you need it.)

Our hospitality/snack stops will NOT be accepting free-will donations. Your one-time registration fee will include refreshments at all hospitality stops. ALL six route options will include a designated lunch stop. You will have the option to purchase your lunch at registration ($7 adult, $5 child). Shirts ordered during early-bird registration ($15.00) can be picked up the day of the event. Shirts ordered after July 25, ($20.00) will be mailed within 3-4 weeks of the event.

The Keosauqua Lions have once again partnered with Community First Bank and Bickels Cycling & Fitness to raffle off a brand new beautiful 1.2 Trek Road Bike with a MSRP of $929 (see photo left.) Tickets are $5 each or 5/$20. Tickets will be on sale during breakfast on Saturday morning and the winner will be drawn on Saturday night Aug. 16, at the Keosauqua Fire Dept. Annual Hog Roast. All of the routes will lead you through some of the most beautiful countryside in Iowa. You'll pedal your way across a portion of the Historic Hills Scenic Byway, taking in historic river Villages dating back to the 1840's. You'll also experience our "prairie villages" where the land is flat and fertile, row crops are prevalent and the friendly down-to-earth folks will welcome you with open arms.

Participants will be sharing the roadways with vehicular traffic. Although the majority of the route is on sparsely traveled paved county roads there are sections that include travel on state highways. For your own safety, helmets are strongly encouraged, but not required.

Registration/Check-in will be held at the Keosauqua City Park.
