"Our kids had fun practicing safety skills with us, and now my husband and I have more peace of mind! As queer-identified adults with gender creative kids, we get unwanted attention that can feel unsafe. Now, we're more prepared as a family to face those situations with skill and confidence."
Together, kids 6-11 and their adults will practice ways to:
• Show awareness and confidence
• Move away from possible problems
• Build effective Stranger Safety habits
• Use voice as a safety tool
• Set clear boundaries
• Deal with bullying
• “Tell” without “tattling”
• Take the power out of mean words
• Make safety plans with family & friends
• Get help from busy adults -- and persist!
• Find your family or group if you get separated in public
This one-time opportunity is FREE (regular cost $60/child)
This workshop is not appropriate for infants or children younger than 5 years old.
Please arrange child care prior to the workshop.

These skills are the same for people of all walks of life! We have created this space so that queer-identified families can have the space to learn in a group of families with LGBTQIA+ family members. Kidpower Instructor/California Program Director is scheduled to lead the workshop. Erika is the parent of a transgender young adult and the author of the 2016 Kidpower article "Protecting Our Transgender Youth".
