Team Captain Championship Qualifier

For the 2nd year, The National Office is hosting a TEAM CAPTAIN CHAMPIONSHIP TOURNAMENT during the 2019 World Pool Championship Event!  We will be qualifying 2 teams at this tournament, which is why the price has doubled.

PLEASE READ ALL THE RULES AS THIS IS A VERY DIFFERENT FORMAT!!

  • Roster size max is 5 Team Captains with 3 playing per match with a skill level limit of 15
  • One timeout per team per rack
  • Players must all be from our league area (and must be captain in our league area)
  • Players must have at least 20 8Ball or 9Ball Scores on their record (not a combination of scores, must have 20 in one or the other) since June 30, 2017 to be able to participate.
  • Highest skill level between 8Ball and 9Ball formats will count toward the 15 rule (for example, a person who is a 5 in 8ball and a 6 in 9ball will count as a 6 for the 15 SL limit)
  • Skill levels 8 & 9 in 9Ball will count as 7 toward the team handicap

Tournament format and play:

  • Modified Single Elimination Tournament
  • 32 team field for our qualifier with 2 WINNING TEAMS ADVANCING TO VEGAS!
  • One senior skill level can play per match (senior skill levels are 6 & 7)
  • Team Captains flip a coin to determine who will declare their 3 players first.  Winner of the toss can decide to declare their 3 players, or to have the opponent declare their 3 players first.  The Captains then list their players in ascending order (lowest to highest).  That list determines the player rotation for the match and is locked.  Once players are declared, the players cannot be changed unless the 15 rule is in jeopardy.
  • Play starts with the first two players lagging for the break and then playing an 8ball rack.  Whichever team wins that first rack, the next player in the rotation for their team breaks the next rack (9ball).  The rotation continues alternating 8ball and 9ball games until a team has reached their Games Must Win (based on skill level total).  When the 3rd game is over, it reverts back to the first players and continues that pattern until a winning team is determined.
  • Each rack is worth 1 team point.

Games Must Win:

Combined Skill Level 6 & Under 7-9 10-12 13-15
6 & Under 3/3 3/4 3/5 3/6
7-9 3/4 3/3 3/4 3/5
10-12 3/5 3/4 4/4 4/5
13-15 3/6 3/5 4/5 5/5
