Calling all "victims" for a good cause! We need volunteers to play our evacuee victims during the Hillsborough County Disaster Pet Friendly Sheltering workshop. You will play an evacuee leaving a disaster area with your family, including pets. This will be a one day event. Help us prepare to keep families together and safe during disasters!
Did you know that during Hurricane Katrina over 45% of the people that didn't evacuate did so because they couldn't take their pets. They chose to stay behind rather than leave their furred and feathered family behind. To keep people safe from harm, we MUST provide safe shelter for the entire familiy. This is the reason that our motto has always been......"Because the ENTIRE family matters"
This is a multi-agency event to simulate emergency Pet Friendly Sheltering, in the event of a catastrophic disaster in the Tampa Bay area. Our goal is to keep families and their pets together during these times. That takes training, planning and practice. Through workshops like this one, we can identify our weaknesses and build on our strengths to help keep families and their pets together in the event of a disaster.
